EDUCATION
Technological innovation is fundamentally transforming education. This brings a huge set of opportunities, solutions to existing problems, as well as new problems to be solved. How to provide children with equitable access to high quality public education? How to teach humans of all ages to navigate in the vast amount of information? How to transfer knowledge and experience from the ageing but still very active population to the younger generation., How to develop new and adapt existing skills to the new technological demands?
HEALTH
We have seen the evolution of technology and its effect on global healthcare. It helped us understand the complexity of both medical and physiological issues. It opened up a conversation about the importance of collaboration between all parts of the system. Moreover, it forced society to apply systemic approaches to healthcare delivery, access and utilization, in pursuit of exponential impact. Health technology innovation gives us a variety of tools to build on, from basic electronic medical records, to developments in precision medicine and beyond.
DIGITAL ECONOMY AND SOCIETY
Digital economy undermines conventional ways of doing business with acceleration of the adoption and use of digital technology. Digital technologies are transforming the world around us, boosting productivity, exposing companies to new ideas, new management and business models, dramatically lowering costs of reaching new markets, optimizing benefits and minimizing risks. Innovative organizations from all sectors are uniquely positioned to make big changes on difficult problems that span systems, through creative collaborations. Resilient communities is no longer a science fiction but a future that we can envision and build. Communities are now gaining access to technologies, which help to deliver more and better public services, improve governance and improve livelihoods of its members.
CLIMATE AND ENERGY
Commercialisation of new technologies, which allow the transition to a low-carbon energy future is no longer an option, it is a requirement for industries to stay relevant in this modern world and address the issues of the world’s growing population and changes in climate. R&D investments range from developments addressing sustainable mix of energy resources, such as natural gas, biofuels, solar power, water treatment, CO2 management and energy efficiency to rethinking the processes for storage and delivery of energy.
